During the war of 1812 Baltimore played a key role in preserving the independence of a young America.  You'll visit Ft. McHenry and hear the story of a young lawyer named Francis Scott Key, who watched the bombardment of the fort from the deck of a truce ship and was so inspired he wrote down the words to a poem that would become our National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.  You'll also tour other parts of Baltimore including Mt. Vernon and Federal Hill, while learning more about the important role Baltimore played in American history.
